Star Wars-The Force Unleashed

Posted on Oct 21, 2009 under New Games

While the story unfolds, you will travel to some beautiful locales. Both new planets and familiar places are among the bright and vivid worlds the apprentice explores as he attempts to complete his master’s bidding. Many of the levels are made up of wide open spaces that show phenomenal art direction and allow the apprentice to use his full repertoire of force powers. Yet often times the apprentice is contained—both literally and figuratively—in dark small corridors of space stations.

In addition to the story and the level design, the game does a number of things right, particularly at the beginning. Before you take control of the main protagonist, the player has the ability to fight as Darth Vader on the Wookiee planet of Kashyyk. The game gives an enticing preview of what an all-powerful Sith lord has at his disposal as Vader can force grip, choke hold, and throw his lightsaber among other deadly moves. The prologue level is one of the best parts of the game as you are in a vivid world, able to use all the force powers, and technical glitches do not hamper the experience as they do in later parts of the game. Dark Sector

Visually Dark Sector is a success. Its on screen presence really goes a long way to creating the intensity and atmosphere that is left lacking by the narrative. The Wizard of Oz-esque black and white prologue was a real master stroke in creating a big impact at a critical in the game as color leaches in and brings you back to the reality of the situation. Wipeout HD

Posted on Oct 13, 2009 under New Games

This really is one of the games to get for the ps3, it comes from a series that has a great reputation and after this game it still holds the title of making one of the most visually stunning racers out there with great controls all round. This is easily the best PSN only game you can get trumping GT5p and R&C QFB.

This should never have been a psn game, it really deserves to be on a blu ray disk in the top ten section but unfortunately its not. It would have been nice to see more new tracks but if there were this game would be much more expensice, despite this even if you dont like most racers (like me) this is definately worth the buy. If your the sort of person Read the rest of this entry »

Fall 2009: PSP Go Confirmed

Posted on Aug 29, 2009 under New Games

Yes for some reason the latest episode of Qore is live and features host Veronica Belmont speaking in the past tense about E3 and getting a private demo of the PSP Go from SCEA Director of Hardware John Koller. Want the deets? Well, imagine a smaller PSP3000 where you slide the top portion up to reveal the D-Pad, Select button, Start button, and traditional face buttons. The screen is going to be 3.8 inches (diagonal), the unit is 44% lighter than the PSP3000, there's no UMD drive, there's a Memory Stick micro slot, it's bluetooth compatible so that you can use a headset and link it to your cell phone, and the unit packs 16 gigabytes of flash memory.  All this is said to be due this fall 2009.
